Vaaler Creek Golf Club - Poised for Breakout Season |
|
Designed by the team of Michael Lowry and JR Newman, Vaaler Creek officially opened to the public as an 18-hole facility on the Fourth of July and has been drawing positive reviews from everyone who has since come to experience the challenge and thrills of the Hill Country layout. “We see new faces out here every day and every week,” said Adam Grosch, director of golf at Vaaler Creek. “They’ve been raving about the golf course.” Grosch added that players are coming from everywhere, including San Marcos and Marble Falls, to sample the course. As you make your way from hole to hole at Vaaler Creek, you’ll notice a variety of well-placed bunkers, numerous water features, panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, an abundance of live oaks and rolling topography The front nine, which was just opened in July, stands out because of its greens. Featuring significant undulation, the MiniVerde putting surfaces can be a considerable challenge. The outward nine is shorter off the tee, giving players a chance to hit more short-iron approach shots. Place the ball on the correct sections of the greens and you’ll be well on your way to a fine round. Located in Blanco, Vaaler Creek’s proximity to the majorhubs in Central Texas make it accessible for both daily-fee golfers looking to get in 18 holes and those interested in a longer “Stay and Play” package.
The golf club offers lodging in the form of two- and three-bedroom Tuscany Heights Condominiums situated between the ninth and tenth holes for golfers who wish to spend the weekend getting acquainted with the new course. The units can be booked for one or multiple nights. These luxury custom-built condos are located near the golf shop and come with fully-functional kitchens, Direct T V, and wireless internet access. Guests staying in the condos are eligible to receive discounted greens fees during their stay.
What’s Happening at Vaaler Creek The club warmly welcomes large groups, whether they’re business associates or golf associations, to spend a day on the golf course and an evening on its deck that overlooks the 18th hole. Already popular among groups ranging from 20 to 40 players, an event at Vaaler Creek is guaranteed to be well-organized and affordable. When golf has concluded for the day, group members can relax on the inviting deck and enjoy a cold beverage or settle bets from the day’s competition.
Construction on the Vaaler Creek clubhouse is expected to begin sometime this winter, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2010. This addition will be another amenity available to better serve the golf club’s customers. As a part of Vaaler Creek’s Frequent Player Program, members enter their name each time they tee it up and become eligible for a host of great prizes. The club has already given away a brand new set of Cobra golf clubs and a Scotty Cameron putter. Some recurring events at Vaaler Creek include Saturday morning junior clinics with a favorable student-teacher ratio that guarantees the kids personalized instruction as well as a monthly four-person scramble that has already drawn more than 80 participants.
