The Golf Club in Austin, located two-miles south of the river on Lamar Boulevard, has also expanded its operation but hasn’t lost its personal approach along the way.
“We occupy more of a niche,” said owner John Rowsey. “We have a down home feel and offer a personal touch. We can provide that for the customers better than anyone.”
The Golf Club has been at its new location for a little over a year and a half and has been in business a total of four and a half years. The family owned and operated store doesn’t have trouble matching the selection offered by the boys.
Working hand-in-hand with vendors and suppliers, store delivers the most up-to-date assortment of brand name golf equipment and merchandise the minute it hits market.
“When it comes out, we want to have the latest and greatest,” Rowsey said.
The store carries almost every major manufacturer including Callaway, Ping, TaylorMade, Mizuno, Nike and Cleveland. Customers can expect the lowest prices in town customized service.
Rowsey said every set of irons can be customized to a golfer’s specification, regardless of manufacturer.
“We’d prefer to personalize the clubs if you’re spending a good bit of money on a set of irons,” he stated. “It’s all part of the customer experience. It’s a hard enough game; why not go out there with confi dence.”
Other services offered by the Golf Club include club repair, trade and sell options and a USGA handicapping service for only $30 a year that comes with a 10% discount equipment from most manufacturers.
